Privacy Policy

The Global Min (“the app”) is a data-science quiz app for iOS, published by Yuval Herman. This policy explains what the app collects, why, and the choices you have.
The short version
- You can use the whole app without an account.
- Your progress is stored on your device.
- The app loads questions from our server as you play, so it needs a connection.
- Only if you opt in, the app shares anonymous stats about which questions you answered and how — used for one purpose: making the questions better. We never sell your data or use it to build a profile of you.
What the app stores on your device
Your session history (results, per-topic accuracy, badges) and preferences (session length, topic focus, haptics) are stored only on your iPhone, in the app’s private storage, so the app can show you your own progress. Deleting the app removes it.
What the app sends to our server
1. Question requests (always, to function).
Questions and Deep Dive pages are stored on our server and fetched as you play. Making these
requests means our server — like any web server — receives standard technical information such
as your IP address and the time of the request. This is used to deliver content and protect the
service from abuse; it is not used to identify you or build a profile.
2. Answer stats (only if you turn them on).
If you enable “Share anonymous answer stats” (it is off by
default; you are asked once, and can change it anytime in Settings → Privacy), the app
records, for each question you answer: which question it was, whether you got it right, which
answer you chose, and how long you took.
Why: one reason only — to calibrate difficulty. A question that hands out too much score for being too easy, or penalizes too harshly, is a broken question. These stats let us find and fix those. This data is tied to an anonymous identifier (or, if you sign in, to your account) — not to your name or email in the stats themselves.
3. Verified skill links (only when you create one).
If you tap “Create verifiable link” on the share screen, the app
publishes the numbers on your share card — skill score, questions answered, strongest topic,
and per-topic levels — to our server, and gives you a public link (theglobalmin.app/v/…).
Anyone with the link can see those numbers and the date they were recorded; the link is not
listed anywhere, so only people you give it to can find it. No name or email is attached.
Nothing is published until you tap the button. To take a published link down, email us (below).
4. Account information (only if you choose to sign in).
Signing in is optional. It creates an account identity so that, if you also opted into
answer stats, we can count unique users (again, to gauge question quality). Your progress itself
stays on your device. With Sign in with Apple, Apple gives us a private identifier and
— only if you allow it — a name and an email (which may be a private relay address). With
email code, we receive your email address to send the code. You can sign out anytime in
Settings, and request deletion of your account and its data (see below).
What we never do
We never sell your answers or personal information, never use them to build an advertising or behavioral profile of you, and never use them as proprietary data for anything beyond improving the questions and the app. If we ever offer a feature that uses your data differently — for example, sharing your results with an interviewer or a hiring partner — that feature will ask for your explicit, separate consent, and it will always be your choice.
Who processes the data
- Supabase hosts our questions and, if you opt in, stores the anonymous answer stats and (if you sign in) your account. They act as our data processor.
- Apple provides Sign in with Apple, if you use it.
We do not use advertising or third-party analytics SDKs.
Data retention and deletion
- On-device history: delete it in Settings → Reset All History, or delete the app.
- Answer stats / account: turn sharing off to stop new collection; to delete already-collected data or your account, email us (below) and we will remove it.
Children
The app contains professional educational content and no objectionable material. It is rated 4+. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children under 13.
Changes
If we change what we collect or why, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy label before the change ships.
